Interview with Benahmed Djibril | REFLEX HOMME Exclusive

February 6, 2019

words by Collen Demerez

This new face was one my best discoveries of 2018, this models name is Benahmed Djibril. Signed to mother agency Williams Agency, Benahmed has also signed with IMG  and Next Milano, showing that this guy is making all the right moves. Listed among our 10 Best New Faces, you might have seen him in recent editorials for the likes of Vogue Arabia Man and his successful career as a Muay Thai Fighter. Benahmed has a look we’re missing in the industry being of Algerian descent, I think a face of his kind is one we need to run with and give attention to. I haven’t seen many models that look like him and I think he could shake up the industry as the new body fashion guy. I think he certainly has the potential to go all the way.

Where are you from?

I come from Paris

How would you describe yourself?

I am 24 years old, I am the oldest of three brothers and my parents comes from Algeria. I am a young guy who has many ambitions, I am someone dynamic, happy and who wants to be the best. I practice Muay Thai at professional level and I’ve been the national Champ two times. I always practised sport, so I naturally have the spirit competition; So the more I progress more, the more I want... I  also have a bachelor’s degree in electronic vehicles.

How were you discovered and how long have you been modelling?

I’ve was discovered by my friend Djimi Williams (agency’s director) four months ago to integrate Williams Agency. It was really new for me, I’ve never thought about modelling and so I directly knew that was an opportunity.

What was your very first modelling job?

My first modelling job was with Babyliss Men, it was a good experience.

You recently worked with worked with Vogue Arabia Man how does it feel to be getting noticed by such a big publication such as Vogue?

Yeah, I recently worked with this magazine. First, it was an honour for me to be published in such a prestigious magazine as Vogue Man Arabia. This experience makes me really happy. I was photographed by Djimi Williams himself, That was my first release in a magazine and I am proud of it, proud of me, proud of the job we did with the staff. I know it was a big publication and hope to be published again and again.

Being at the start of 2019 what are some brands you’d love to work with or a dream modelling job you want?

For this year I really want to progress, I would like to get to work for a big brand. It can be a sport or luxury brand, I can't really think about a particular brand at the moment. I hope my agencies could decide it better than me.

You have a background as a Muay Thai Fighter, is that your passion and what has the transition into modelling/fashion been like?

That’s right Muay Thai is my passion, but I didn’t really have to transition to modelling. I think even though the Muay Thai is a dangerous sport it helps me to keep a good physical shape for modelling, in fact, I just have to be careful about my face. And these two practices make a good pair.

What’s a song you have on repeat on your playlist right now?

My favourite song is “My life be like”, of Tupac&Xzibit feat Grits group with Coffee and Teron Carter.

Name something you couldn’t live without?

Sport is something without I can’t live.

Where would you like to be in 5 years?

In 5 years I would like to be in Los Angeles.

What’s the most played song on your playlist?

The most played song on my playlist is 'MIA by Drake'
