Interview with Jaad Belgaid
Move over Hadids cause the hottest last name in fashion is about to be Belgaid. I'm talking about the two Belgaid brothers ofcourse, Jaad and Ismail, starting with the eldest Jaad. Whether you've heard his name or not you've definitely seen him, whether it's on the cover of V Mag with Sam Smith or on the viral photos of the Jacquemus men's show. Still, in the early stages of his modelling career, Jaad has worked for the best walking for the likes of Givenchy, D&G and Phillip Plein. Jaad has what it takes to go the distance and take over the men's fashion scene. This week I got ahold of him for an interview and he told me all about himself.
What’s your full name?
Where are you from?
I’m from Paris, France.
How were you discovered and how long have you been modelling?
My agent Gaspard came to Paris to see me, he found me on Instagram. Two years.
What was your very first modelling job?
Givenchy show ss17, two weeks after I met Gaspard.
You had an amazing SS19 season, walking in the highly anticipated Men’s Jacquemus show, along with shows for Frankie Morello and Todd Snyder. How did it feel?
Yes, I had a good season, it's never enough you always have to hit harder but I was limited by the time with my studies as a sports coach and my judo training. so I'm very satisfied, especially the fact of having made these incredible show this summer.
What’s been the biggest highlight of your modelling career so far?
I noticed that my cover in January 2018 for VMag was a big step on my career, I could affirm myself and confirm my name. now I stay in constant development, so... it's never finished
If you could work with any brand which one would it be and why?
Versace need me.
You come from an Athletic background as a Judo fighter, is there any lessons you have taken from that into modelling.
As my coaches say since my childhood; "keep working champ".
Name a song you can’t stop listening to right now?
Yes indeed - lil baby, Drake.
How does it feel for you and your brother to be both doing so well modelling?
I find it cool to do that with my brother, I'm proud of him, he works well, and we did some show together (jacquemus, willychavarria) and even a magazine cover (Athletica) and with my father too. it's just amazing. now, we're going to get the hang of it as in judo it's going to be funny. that he does not forget who is the big brother ahah.
What’s your favourite thing to do on your days off?
This is the opportunity to see my family and my friends, train, advance on my work.
Where would you like to be in 5 years?
Maybe I would love to be on an island with my children and my wife, sipping coconut lol.
